ZIRCON : FINE AND PRECIOUS STONES

The body chain, a fashionable accessory for women

December 16, 2021

Malofta Accessories Blogs

More and more women are starting to look for body chains every summer.
A sensual and feminine accessory par excellence, wearing a waist chain brings a sense of freedom, vacation and relaxation.
It exists in all its forms, even the most atypical! First and foremost, there are the two classics: gold or silver ankle chains.

An accessory more and more in vogue

One can quickly be afraid of damaging or losing it. However, owning a beautiful gold body bracelet can perfectly match many types of outfits.
Whether it's a light swimsuit outfit, or a slightly more urban crop top outfit, both look great.
Beyond these two materials, you can find accessories in wire, cotton or even charms of all kinds, we are fans of silver chains with charms of all colors!

Where do body chains come from and what are their meanings?

Traditionally called Bin-Bin, this accessory was born in Africa many years ago.
A jewel that replaces the scale
Gone are the days when some people were afraid to see the numbers on their scales. In Africa, the bin bin was used by some as a benchmark of their current physical condition:
when she felt that the jewel was more and more stretched, she knew that she had to slow down a bit on the glasses of champagne and aperitifs!
An accessory supposed to protect
Some people used it for its medicinal virtues, where the jewel was supposed to cure kidney ailments.
But also for its psychological benefits, where it was supposed to reduce the stress of the person wearing it.
A proven accessory of seduction
Called Baya in Ivory Coast, it is a real jewel of seduction used as a weapon of massive seduction.
By its aspect and its sensual placement, it defines and traces the curves of the person wearing it, and by its glitter emitted by the charms.
Be careful though, this is an object that is traditionally not supposed to be worn in plain sight, and only the partner should be able to see it.This jewel is also supposed to boost the fertility of women.
As we have seen, the waist chains have been carrying many meanings in Africa, but nowadays, it is getting lost more and more and becomes a real fashion accessory requested by many Western women.

8 things you need to know before buying a watch

December 16, 2021

Malofta Accessories Blogs

Although the purchase of a watch may seem trivial to some, it requires a little attention.
Before making your choice, several criteria should be taken into account. These will allow you to find a model adapted to your tastes, your style, your morphology and your budget.
1. The size
This is an important detail because not all watches fit all wrists. Another criterion to take into account is that the lugs of the watch should fit the wrist, i.e.
Not go beyond the edges and not too far from them either. Our article dedicated to the choice of the size of your watch will reveal you all the tips to know.
2. The case
The case is a key element that determines the overall look of the watch. It includes the case middle, the bezel and the back.  And materials (gold, stainless steel, platinum, titanium and others).
3. Water resistance
A watch marked as "waterproof" cannot necessarily accompany you underwater. Before you decide on a specific model, it is essential to understand the different information given about its water resistance.
A "waterproof" or "water resistant" watch cannot be immersed if nothing more than this mention is specified. To be able to go underwater, it must be waterproof to at least 50 meters, i.e. 5 ATM.
4. The movement
The Quartz model, the most common, operates with a simple battery. Its life span is shorter but it is efficient, cheap and can offer several additional functions.
The mechanical model works with a movement and not a battery. The winding can be done either manually (by hand by turning the crown) or automatically by moving the wrist. Its life span is quite long but its price is higher than quartz.
The hybrid model mixes Quartz and mechanical, it works with an accumulator that is recharged through an oscillating weight based on the system of the Quartz movement.
5. The glass
There are several types of glass: acrylic, which is economical and light, mineral, which is robust and a little more expensive, and sapphire, which is the favorite of high-end brands and is particularly resistant.
The type of glass generally depends on the manufacturer's choice, but it's a good idea to know what type of glass your watch has before you buy it.
6. The strap
After the case, the strap is also important because it finishes the look of a watch but also (and especially) fits on your wrist. You will have to look at the material, the color and the type of clasp, i.e.
7. A second hand watch?
It allows you to buy a beautiful luxury model at a much more affordable price than a new one. Buying a second-hand watch requires a little effort beforehand in order not to make a mistake!
First of all, you need to find out about the model you like so that you know what you are dealing with when you meet the retailer.
Then you will have to check that the timepiece works well, see if it is in good condition and know if any work needs to be done on it.
8. A new watch?
If you prefer to buy a new watch, start by establishing a budget, as this will guide you towards a specific type of model.
For example, if you plan to spend between 50 and 600$, the best thing to do is to look at quartz watches, but you can also find quality mechanical or automatic watches.

Zircon : Fine And Precious Stones

1. NAME OF ZIRCON
The name Zircon is derived either from the Arabic "Zarkun" ("red") or from the combination of the Persian words "Tsar" and "Gun" ("Gold" and "Color"). This reference to color is misleading, as zircon can actually come in a wide variety of colors
2. CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF ZIRCON
Zircon is a naturally occurring zirconium silicate, not to be confused with zirconium oxide (or Zirconia), which is produced in the laboratory (although a few natural occurrences of this mineral have been discovered, in quantities and sizes too limited to be mined for jewelry).
3. ORIGIN OF ZIRCON
Zircon is mined in Cambodia, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Tanzania.
4. HISTORY OF ZIRCON
Zircon has been known and mined since ancient times, and has been found at some of the world's oldest archaeological sites.
It appears in several ancient texts, including a Hindu poem about the mythical Kalpa tree, which was said to be adorned with zircon leaves.
Under its ancient name of Hyacinth, Zircon is mentioned several times in the Bible, first as one of the "Stones of Fire" (Ezekiel 28, 13-16) offered by Moses to be set in Aaron's breastplate, then as one of the stones used for the foundation of Jerusalem.
5. CHARACTERISTICS OF ZIRCON
Zircon has a strong birefringence: when light penetrates the stone, it is split into two distinct light beams.
Even to the untrained eye, this effect is made obvious by an optical effect of doubling the edges (depending on the angle of view and the size of the stone).
Other characteristics of zircon are its adamantine luster (close to that of Diamond), its fire and its luster.
6. MAINTENANCE OF ZIRCON
Some zircons may fade or revert to their original color when exposed to strong luminescence. Avoid exposing your zircon to extreme lighting conditions.
7. ZIRCON VARIETIES
Malofta Accessories blog

Zircon comes in different colors: blue, champagne, coffee, cognac, gold, green, honey, orange, red, white (colorless) and yellow.

  • Below we present some of the most famous varieties of zircon :

  • CINNAMON ZIRCON
  • Cinnamon Zircon is named after its similarity to the beautiful spicy hue that characterizes it.

  • SAFFRON ZIRCON
  • Like the Cinnamon Zircon, the Saffron Zircon takes its name from the spice to which its hues are related.

  • RATANAKIRI ZIRCON
  • A particular variety of zircon is the Ratanakiri zircon, named after the deposit in Cambodia that provides some of the finest specimens of this blue-colored zircon.

  • THE PINK ZIRCON
  • The pink variety of Zircon.

  • THE CANARY ZIRCON
  • The Canary Zircon refers to the flash yellow color of the famous little colored bird.

  • THE WHITE ZIRCON
  • The white or colorless zircon is often used as an accent stone on a setting, it can also be used as a center stone because of its great brightness and its resemblance to the diamond.

  • CHOCOLATE ZIRCON
  • The chocolate zircon has a beautiful brown color.

  • THE GREEN ZIRCON
  • Zircon can also develop sublime green hues depending on its origin and its metal content.

  • MASHEWA ORANGE ZIRCON
  • Mashewa orange zircon comes from the Mashewa province in Tanzania, its orange color is well defined.
